👔 MBA after Engineering
"Moving from Code to Management"
Many engineers realize they don't love coding, but they love Product, Strategy, and Money. An MBA is the pivot point.
🚪 The Entrance Exams
- CAT (Common Admission Test): The king of exams. 99%ile is mandatory for GEM (General Engineer Male) candidates.
- XAT (XLRI): Slightly tougher than CAT, but gets you into XLRI.
- GMAT: For ISB (Indian School of Business) and foreign MBAs.
🏫 Top B-Schools for Engineers
- IIM Ahmedabad/Bangalore/Calcutta (ABC): The Holy Trinity.
- ISB Hyderabad:
- Requirement: Needs 2+ years of work experience.
- Focus: Very Tech/Product management focused.
- FMS Delhi: Extremely cheap fees (ROI is insane).
💼 Tech MBA vs General MBA
- Tech MBA: A new trend. Focuses on managing software teams.
- Product Management: The most common role for Engineers after MBA. You become the "CEO of the Product".
⚖️ The "Work Ex" Debate
- Fresher MBA: Good if you are 100% sure you hate coding.
- MBA with Work Ex (2-3 years): Highly Recommended.
- You understand how corporate works.
- You get better placements.
- ISB only takes people with experience.
