📄 How to Publish Research Papers

"The Currency of Academia"

If you want a Masters/PhD admit, a Research Paper is the strongest weapon you can have. It proves you can think, not just code.

🚫 The Scam Warning (Read First!)

Many "International Journals" are scams. They ask you to pay $50 and publish your paper in 2 days. * Examples: IJCRT, JETIR (Avoid these!). * Why avoid? Professors know these are fake. It will hurt your application more than help.

Target: IEEE or ACM Conferences / Journals. Or Springer / Elsevier. * Rule: If they ask you for money to review the paper, it's likely a scam.

🔬 How to Write a Paper (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: The Idea (Novelty)

You don't need to invent a new AI. You just need a small improvement. * Bad: "Face Recognition System". (Done 1 million times). * Good: "Face Recognition System for Low-Light Villages in India using Thermal Cameras". (Specific context).

Step 2: The Mentor

You cannot do this alone. * Find a professor in your college who has a Google Scholar profile. * Ask to work under them.

Step 3: The Structure (IMRAD)

  1. Introduction: What is the problem?
  2. Methodology: What is your algorithm/architecture? (Draw diagrams!).
  3. Results: Graphs proving your method is 2% better than existing ones.
  4. Discussion: Why did it work?

Step 4: Submission

  • Find a conference (e.g., "IEEE Region 10 Conference").
  • Submit PDF.
  • Wait 2-3 months for "Peer Review".

🏃‍♀️ The "Mitacs" Internship (Canada)

  • Globalink Research Internship: Use this program to engage in research in Canada during your 3rd year summer.
  • Benefit: Fully funded. If the prof likes you, they will fund your Masters.
